We usually discuss KPOP for this column but we’re switching it up a bit to dabble in to the Korean Indie scene seeing as lots of Korean artists are making their way to the United States for SXSW but also CAAMFest 2016.
Every year CAAMFest showcases talented Asian musicians and artists. This Friday we’re treated to a set of Korean Indie artists at the Gray Area Art & Technology Theater. In previous years they’ve brought over artists such as punk rock legends No Brain, alternative rock 3rd Line Butterfly, popular indie electronic group Glen Check, and many more. Unfortunately CAAMFest didn’t have a Korean Indie showcase in 2015 so I’m really excited to see them hosting one again this year. Lets take a look at the lineup!

HEO is best described as electronic synth but their style changes from song to song which keep their sound sounding fresh. Interesting tidbit that I found in an interview Korean Indie did with HEO is that they actually performed with 3rd Line Butterfly back in 2013 for Seoulsonic in San Francisco.

Love X Stereo performed for CAAMFest 2014/SEOULSONIC 2K14 along side Rock N Roll Radio, Glen Check, and SmackSoft, which is where I fell in love with their electro-pop inspired music! Since then they’ve gone on to perform at SXSW and their latest track Hide and Seek was even featured in the kdrama Cheese in the Trap. Their latest EP was recently successfully crowdfunded via their campaign on PledgeMusic so keep an eye out for We Love We Leave, Part 2!
