5 Non Joong-Ki Reasons to Watch Descendants of the Sun

I mean, I am already watching Descendants of the Sun for Song Joong Ki (Capt. Yoo Shi Jin), but there is SO much more! Here’s 5 other reasons to watch probably the biggest trendy Korean drama for the first half of the year.

Greece – The fictional country of Urk is actually Greece. So those sweeping shots of that Hyundai driving are gorgeous for a reason. And yes, apparently a rusty ship on a private island can seem romantic. And yes, you can be the only people in a quaint restaurant with a gorgeous mountainside view.

Senior Seo Dae Young
– Jin Goo plays the broody best friend and colleague of Shi Jin. His chemistry with Song Joong Ki is incredible. He plays Dae Young as silent and cunning. He also struggles with his feelings for the Lt. General’s daughter, whom he loves, but her father opposes their union.

Private Kim Ki Bum
– Adorable Kim Min Seok plays the young military guy who redeems himself by entering the army after some not so innocent actions. He provides some fresh comic relief. Some of you might remember him from Shut Up Flower Boy Band.

Surgeon Yoon Myung Joo
– Wow, Kim Ji Won has only been in a handful of scenes in the first 4 episodes and we already know that she’s a force to be reckoned with. Yes, she is the second lead, but she plays Myung Joo’s love for Dae Young (Jin Goo) with pain and unfaltering hope.

Resident Lee Chi Hoon
 – SHINee’s Onew has dabbled in a few dramas, but his role as a new daddy and lovable young doctor is so cute. He’s charming, funny and he’s always looking out for others. He’s like your little brother and best friend all wrapped up in arm accentuating & adorable scrubs.

Let’s be real, we all came to watch Song Joong Ki, but overall, this show has been so enjoyable in such a short time for so many more reasons than him alone. I hope it continues. And I hope we get a little more of Dae Young and Myung Joo.
