Finally Some New Kdramas – She Was Pretty & D-Day

I’ve been in a slump of some sorts lately with kdramas. It’s just there haven’t been much to keep my attention. I have been really enjoying variety shows and revisiting dramas I have already watched, but I sort of miss watching a lot of shows. Luckily my thirst for rom-com and action content is hoping to be quenched with MBC’s lighthearted comedy She Was Pretty and JTBC’s disaster drama D-Day.

She Was Pretty그녀는 예뻤다
Genre: Romance, comedy
Episodes: 16
Broadcast network: MBC
Broadcast period: 2015-Sep-16 – ?

Hwang Jung Eum as Kim Hye Jin (30, Editorial Team’s Assistant/intern)
Park Seo Joon as Ji Sung Joon (30, Deputy Chief Editor)
Go Joon Hee as Min Ha Ri (30, Hotelier)
Choi Siwon as Kim Shin Hyuk (32, Feature Editor)

Hwang Jung Eum is already back after Kill Me, Heal Me and this time paired up with her KMHM co-star Park Seo Joon. The story is a sort of an ugly duckling (hardly, but I guess this is how it is in the dramaverse) theme, but with a twist of rich boy vs. poor girl added. Nevermind that, Choi Siwon is back in a role that has silly moments. Can we talk about how that fits him? I’ve always loved his more ridiculous roles (Oh! My Lady, The King of Dramas) and if this teaser is any indication, we’re going to get him like that.
Watch She Was Pretty on VIKI.

D-Day 디 데이
Genre: Fantasy, medical
Episodes: 20
Broadcast network: JTBC
Broadcast period: 2015-Sep-18 to 2015-Nov-21

Kim Young Kwang as Lee Hae Sung
Jung So Min as Jung Ddol Mi
Ha Suk Jin as Han Woo Jin
Yoon Joo Hee as Park Ji Na

Now, the disappointing thing right now is the D-Day isn’t licensed on the major drama sites. Then there’s the fact that they already filmed 14 episodes, which even for western shows is not common. Korean dramas for the most part have a crazy schedule and this one slid by that. That being said, I will attempt to find this online (VIKI got it!) because I liked a few of the dramas the writer did and I am in desperate need of a drama that kicks ass. I’m sort of over the gangster stuff, but oddly enough not over medical stuff. Am I curious about doctors in a quake-alypse? Maybe I just want to see a dirty Young Kwang in scrubs? Chances are it is the latter. I am OK with that.
Watch D-Day on VIKI.
